Thermage body contouring

Thermage is a body contouring procedure that most people now have an open mind to. In years past, liposuction was viewed as a dangerous and risky method to getting rid of unwanted fat and improving a person's general appearance.

Indeed, stories of excessive bleeding, prolonged bruising and botched attempts at body enhancement were not unheard of. People considered liposuction as a worthy, albeit, dangerous method for body sculpting. One had to think twice whether the risk was worth it or not.

Traditionally, liposuction involved the use of a small tube known as a cannula that was inserted through a discreetly made incision in the target area. Once in, the surgeon would move the cannula back and forth to break up the fat cells to facilitate the sucking process.

Some procedures employed the use of a double cannula. This consisted of an inner and an outer tube. The outer tube was used primarily as an "anchor" to make sure that the canuula stayed firmly in place for the operation. The inner tube was what the surgeon would move back and forth to break up and suck out the fatty deposits. The double cannula resulted in greatly lessened bleeding and bruising.

An even better development was the use of a "smart" laser. The smart laser was simply aimed at the target area and it vaporized the fat cells. It is referred to as a "smart" laser because it has the capability to single out the fat cells from other kinds of tissue. This advancement has greatly simplified the risks involved in liposuction.

Thermage body contouring, on the other hand, does not necessarily deal with fat elimination. It involves more of implants, lifting and fat re-distribution.


Popular areas for the placement of implants are the biceps and triceps area. Implants placed here add definition in a way that body building can not. Implants in the butt area, inspired by the wide popularity of Jennifer Lopez, have also become increasingly in demand. Calf implants have also become the solution to people who are particularly concerned about this area.
